Medication Assisted Treament
Our healthcare providers oversee an opioid-free recovery process with the treatment of VIVITROL to help prevent relapse into alcohol or drug abuse. VIVITROL is administered as a once a month injection in conjunction with comprehensive counseling services for increased effectiveness when combating drug or alcohol addictions. VIVITROL is non-narcotic and non addictive, thus preventing the patient from trading one addiction for another.
VIVITROL works by creating a barrier that blocks opioid molecules from attaching to opioid receptors. VIVITROL antagonists attach to opioid receptors, but do not cause the release of dopamine. VIVITROL blocks opioid receptors in the brain for one month at a time, helping patients to prevent relapse to opioid dependence, following opioid detox, while they focus on participating in outpatient counseling. Patients must be opioid-free prior to starting VIVITROL treatment.
